I
arrive with a group of Australians at the Casa for the second session on
Wednesday. Most have breast cancer, diabetes and heart problems. I am here for
a compressed disk in my back, which has caused severe pain for about a year.
There is a main hall with a small concrete stage. We hear about a thirty-minute
talk in Portuguese and then file into the first 'current' room. We sit with our
eyes closed, hands and arms not touching and meditate. Later we are told to
come back tomorrow by today's entity. João/entity scans you instantly, seeing
everything including what is wrong and what is needed. All is transparent,
including the physical to emotional/psychological attachments to karmic
history. Conversation is unnecessary but if João/entity should have advice to
give, it is important to have a translator nearby as speech is in Portuguese.
Thursday
morning session, we line up and file into current room two where João is
seated. We each receive a script for herbs to be taken three times daily and
some are told to sit in this current room. This is obviously a powerful room
that can be felt. During 'in-current' sessions, I personally would experience
waves of chills top to bottom, light ripples circling counter-clockwise around
my peripheral vision and various images.
On
Friday I file past João and straight into the room for operations. There are
benches where we sit and I visualize my lower back-disk being worked on. I
imagine the space between the bones being enlarged and the nerves being healed.
I feel slight 'clicks' at my tailbone but no other sensations. After a while,
João says, "All are operated on".
Outside, friends comment that my
lower back is hot. I touch it and yes, it touches like it was sunburned. After
an operation, you are to leave the Casa for twenty-four hours and so I go back
to my room to lie down until dinner. My lower back, after a time, begins to get
slightly sore. The soreness went away in a few days and my back has not
bothered me since.
This
was my experience. Other people have their own experience and as individuals
each may vary. A person only has to suspend disbelief for a while, be open and
go along for the ride.

Lenny Rader aka Narada Muni Das

Florida; Born: 1948
lennyrader@cs.com
Wearing white
t-shirts and muted orange dhotis (loose pants typical of India) a white dot painted
on the center of their foreheads, one hand enclosed in a prayer bead bag,
Narada and his friend, Jabuvanath, stood out in the crowd of people at the Casa
de Dom Inácio. I'm sure I wasn't the only person wondering how these people
from the Hari Krishna movement had found their way to João's sanctuary in
Brazil in early March, 2001.
On
my first day at the Casa, I had seen Jabuvanath fall to the ground,
unconscious, as he stood watching the orientation in the morning, one in a
crowd of over three hundred people. As the Casa volunteers gently carried him
to the recovery room, I noticed how very thin he was. Narada recalled that
Jabuvanath had been ill with stomach cancer at that time. As Jabuvanath was
looking at the photo of Dom Inácio in the assembly room, he had become
overwhelmed with the presence of entities and fallen to the floor in a profound
state of bliss.
The
entities often work with people who are standing in the assembly room, or
meditating anywhere on the Casa grounds. I was warned to not be surprised if
someone fell down during the assembly. Jabuvanath has the ability to feel the
entities working on him in a very dramatic way. Other people say they feel
nothing, but sometimes discover the thin line of a scar on their bodies,
evidence that they had surgery without consciously being aware of it.
Narada
was diagnosed five years ago with Hepatitis C, a virus which is blood borne. He
contracted the disease in 1971 from a blood transfusion he received during
surgery for removal of a cancerous tumor. Western medicine knows of no cure for
Hepatitis C. Treatment involves rest. Drugs, like Interferon, which are hard on
the liver, are usually prescribed. (Combination therapy with Ribavirin is now
used which has severe side effects ... including major depression and anaemia.)
Narada believes the chemotherapy actually challenges the body still more than
the Hepatitis. Patients must curtail or limit sexual activities, as the virus
can be transferred to others through spit or blood. Patients usually die from progressive
degeneration of the liver, cirrhosis. The severity of Hepatitis C is monitored
through the blood tests which track the elevation in enzyme levels and viral
counts.
Narada
has not taken any conventional drugs for his hepatitis. In July, 2001, he began
to take herbs from the Amazon Rain forest. However, he assigns his progress in
overcoming hepatitis to the work that he has done at the Casa de Dom Inácio.
On
his first visit, in March, 2001, the entity told Narada that he needed surgery
that day. Narada was then faced with the decision about whether to do visible
or non-visible surgery.
I
wanted to experience the physical surgery. For me, it was an act of faith. So,
I volunteered for visible surgery.
The
process began when I was sitting in the surgery room waiting for the Entity. I
began having visions for about half an hour which were very intense. I saw
Jesus Christ amidst throngs of people. Radha and Krishna, the Divine couple who
represent the female and male aspects of God, were there. So was the founder of
the Hare Krishna movement, Srila Prabhupada.
Then,
I was ushered into the Entity's room. I was already in an altered state, quite
unaware of time and space and very relaxed. The Entity took my head in his
hands, and before I knew it, he had a six inch long surgical tool up my nose
and was twisting it. I felt no pain at all, but was aware that the procedure
was happening. I had done spiritual practices which help me disassociate from
my body for thirty-five years, so being detached from body sensations is not
new for me.
Immediately
after that procedure was over I was led to the assembly room. I had been given
a mantra the day before in a dream, and I was repeating it to myself. 'Love
protects. Love nourishes. Love heals. Love forgives. Love is grateful. Love is
Divine.' As a result, I had very little fear.
I
was standing against a wall in front of the assembly when the Entity used a
surgical knife to make an incision in my lower abdomen. I had very little
discomfort. I do remember the cut as a jolt to my nervous system, but my
attention soon turned again to dramatic visions. I saw myself lying prone in
front of God in the form of Radha and Krishna. Real tears of gratitude were
streaming down my face.
The
incision the Entity made was about three inches long and just below my liver. I
bled only a few drops. The entity put his fingers in my body through the
incision and moved his fingers around. I believe he was changing the energetic
patterning in that area of my body. He did not take anything out of my body.
After a minute or two, he removed his fingers, briefly wiped around the
incision with a cloth, then, sewed it up with a few stitches.
After
this surgery I felt enraptured in bliss for days. I rested and mediated in my
room, then returned to participate in the current after 24 hours. The most
important part of my healing process since that surgery has been sitting in
current, meditating and praying on my own, and continuing taking the herbs
prescribed by the Entity.
I
have continued to receive unexpected gifts which have amplified the healing.
For example, I was intensely curious about how João incorporates an Entity. I
wanted to see it. One morning, I was standing in the assembly room during the
orientation. João came out of the current room, said a few words in Portuguese
(which I don't understand) and then pointed at me. I came up to him. He took
hold of one of my hands with both of his hands. I closed my eyes. In a few
seconds, João the man, left his body and another Entity came into his body. I
could feel the shift in the energy during the incorporation (as if he had been
told that I wanted to experience it.) It is hard to describe what I felt during
those seconds. Yes, there was a distinct energy. I felt transported to a
causeless, non-judgemental love for all living things. He dropped my hand after
less than a minute, and turned to the other people he was going to operate on.
I stayed in the non-judgemental state of mind for a number of hours. I am sure
it is this energy what helps transmute sickness.
In
August, when I had my annual blood test, my enzyme level was in the normal
range for the first time in five years, and the viral count had decreased 75%.
I still have a way to go, as clinically I am not healed, but the results thus
far border on a complete remission of symptoms. I also measure this through
major differences in my energy level. I am able to do most things now, like
take walks and do normal chores, where I was severely limited just a few months
ago.
The
second time I came to the Casa, it was in mid-summer, 2001. I brought some
people with me and helped them in their healing. I was told I would be
completely cured. I was also told that I am being prepared to do healing work
with the entities. This is very exciting for me, and something I want to do.
This
time (September 2001) I have seen the Entity once. He told me that my work is
in the current room, and by giving to others I will be cured.
Narada
and I met again in the Casa garden to speak about the terrorist attack on New
York City and the Pentagon. I was struck by Narada's ease and joy in referring
to his religious beliefs, and, at the same time, his willingness to converse
and be open to my perspectives. Still, his certain alignment with his own
perception infused everything he said. And, he did not hesitate to share this
certainty with me - especially as it regards healing:
We
have tremendous power in our minds which affects the body. Everything starts in
seed form on a subtle (spiritual) platform. Every disease. Every joy.
Everything. What one learns here at the Casa de Dom Inácio is that the
spiritual and physical are deeply intertwined. We can effect physical change by
doing spiritual work. We can study how spiritual work effects physical health
here. We can integrate the physical with the spiritual, that is, truly become
spiritual beings, with spiritual intentions, using the body as a vessel to do
our work.
Robert Pellegrino-Estrich
They come in the
thousands. The sick, the lame, the
'incurable' and the medically discarded, to a small town in central
Brazil. They endure long international
flights and for some long bus trips to Abadiania, high on the plateau of
Central Brazil. They come to be
cured by the miracle healer, Joao Teixeira de Faria ... the man they call John of God.
He will scrape away cataracts
and eye tumors with a knife, remove breast cancers with a small incision and
cause the crippled to walk with just the touch of his hand. In a meditation room a ceiling high
stack of discarded crutches, wheelchairs and braces pays silent testimony to
his success. He is acclaimed as
the greatest healer of the past 2,000 years.
Buses arrive throughout
the night. At 5am it is cool and
still. A heavy mist blankets the
town of Abadiania, much of which has grown to cater for the thousands who pilgrimage
here. People sit outside the
simple lodging houses talking softly...
waiting. Some sleep in cars
or buses or simply stand around waiting for the sunrise. The lodging houses provide free coffee
for the weary travelers who spill from newly arrived buses all through the
night. Dawn will bring new hope of
a life without pain or illness.
The hospital-style
center opens at 6 am. The sick
collect their queuing numbers as cameramen prepare their equipment for the
filming of the day's activity. In
an unmarked room Joao rests in preparation. Rita, a dentist and volunteer aid, who says she was healed
by Joao of an incurable disease, explains that he can call on more than 34
doctor entitles who use him as a vessel to perform the amazing surgery and
healing. Joao is an unconscious
medium, she explains, who does not remember anything once he is incorporated by
entity. The principal entity is
Dom Inacio, after whom the center is named - Casa De Dom Inacio. We know him as St. Ignatius of Loyola.
My initial interview
with Joao is in the unmarked room at the rear of the center. He lies on a couch in the dimly fit,
sparsely furnished room. On the
wall above his head hang pictures of his principal entities. On the adjacent wall hang a dozen
Honorary Degrees, Certificates of Appreciation and Civil Awards bestowed upon
him by grateful countries and VIPS, among them a plaque bearing a Medal of
Honor from the President of Peru in gratitude for healing his son. Joao greets us with an outstretched hand
from the couch where he is resting.
We do not stay long. He has
another busy day ahead. The people
are lining up - over 600 already and it is only 7.30 am. Soon he will say a simple prayer and
incorporate the entity. Time
enough for us to inspect the premises before the healings begin.
The healing center,
affectionately known as The Casa, is simple, efficient and designed to cater to
large numbers of people. The main
treatment area is where visible operations are performed on patients when the
Federal Police allow it. A lilting
song heralds his entry. Followed
by assistants carrying trays of surgical instruments, he moves slowly in
trance. Anesthesia and
sterilization are provided invisibly by the entities, a fact that astounds
medical doctors who come to observe him.
In 35 years there has never been a single case of septicemia in the
house. The main hall is open at
one end leading out to a covered walkway, toilets and a garden.
During the first morning
I saw operations performed that defied logic. Touching the head of a woman who had a large tumor in her
stomach, he lifted her shirt to reveal a freshly stitched four-inch
incision. Two hours later she
seemed well, in high spirits and happy to show me her incision. 'See,' she said, 'the tumor is gone,
and I'm going home to cook dinner!'
Some of the operations
are unorthodox in the extreme.
With a pair of long nosed scissors and a cotton swab, he operates
through the nose, twisting the scissors high in the sinus cavity. I am told that he can perform 28
different operations throughout the body with this technique. Although gruesome to watch, it is an
apparently pleasant experience for the recipient. One man l interviewed declared he had six broken bones in
his feet repaired by this method.
A similarly illogical operation is performed by scraping the eyeball
with a kitchen knife, a procedure absolutely impossible by any medical
doctor. Apart from the removal of
eye tumors and cataracts, he also operates elsewhere in the body by scraping
the eye. Invited to watch at close
range, I saw a small blue light emanate from the tip of the knife. This light strobed deep into the iris
and seemed to break up into multiple white fingers. At no time was there an anesthetic or aseptic used in any
operation. Incisions produce
virtually no bleeding, a fact which astounds doctors and scientists alike.
I was warned by a kindly
assistant to watch for an amazing phenomenon: 'simultaneous invisible
operations' which occur in the crowd as he operates. Even so, I was not prepared for the frequency and, simplicity
of this remarkable occurrence.
People began dropping like flies all around me. 'Get that one!' Joao said as he paused
from a delicate eye operation and pointed into the crowd. 'There is another over there. Take them to the recovery room,' he
said with firm compassion. These
were truly miraculous healings.
I watched in amazement
as a man, confined to a wheelchair for 50 years, was told to stand and walk
after a simple touch of his legs.
The grateful man burst into tears as assistants walked him away and the
wheelchair was removed to become part of the static display in the meditation
room. I pulled myself away to
check on patients in the recovery room.
Fitted with two rows of
clean white beds, the recovery room smelled clean and sterile; a spiritual air,
not the chemical smell of a hospital.
I sought out some of the 'simultaneous operations' to check their
postoperative condition. Hopeless
cancer cases, gallstones, hernia, cataracts, chronic arthritis, leukemia, heart
problems and many undiagnosed illnesses.
All were drowsy but calm and content. Everyone I spoke to had been operated on; successfully, they
assured me. One man, who had not
been able to sit or bend and previously required assistance to lie down, had
received a small incision between his shoulders. Immediately he could bend, squat and sit. He was so happy, tears rolled down his
big square cheeks as he described his amazing cure.
The house contains three
other major rooms. One is a
meditation room where 30 or more mediums, all dressed in white, sit in deep
meditation. This, they tell me,
generates a strong healing current.
Next door, in the main interview room, sit another 60 or more volunteer
mediums. The long line of ailing
pilgrims walks through the center of this room to receive their cures or
prescriptions from the medium Joao, who is in entity. Following the visible operations, he sits in a large chair
as the people file past. The entity
scans each person and 'sees' their problem. For many, he will write a prescription for herbs in a
strange spirit shorthand. Limping,
on crutches or in wheelchairs, the line seems unending. Some who need operations are directed
to wait in an adjoining room where major surgery or prolonged treatments take
place. As he speaks, his hand, seemingly
disconnected from the man himself, flashes across a notepad. Another script, another instruction and
the line moves on. An engineer who
first brought his daughter to the house seeking a cure for a painful leg
condition, tells me the medium will stay until all have been treated, sometimes
late into the evening.
Although a successful
businessman in his private life, Joao Teixeira is a simple man of humble
origins who now devotes three days every week to healing his fellow human
beings, without payment of any kind.
A heavy-set man with a slight bodily slump, he exudes deep compassion
and remarkable inner strength. He
speaks with an economy of words but his deep voice commands attention.
Born into an
impoverished family, he is intimately familiar with hunger, deprivation and the
humility of poverty. As revealed
in his biography The Miracle Man, he discovered his extraordinary gift at age
16 when a female vision appeared to him and told him to go to a nearby
spiritual church. Greeted by a
senior member when he arrived, he does not remember the next few hours but on
awakening he was told that he had performed miraculous operations. He has continued healing for 38 years
despite relentless persecution.
For much of his youthful life he was forced to live as a wanderer,
traveling from city to city healing the sick and living from their donations of
food. The police harassed him
constantly with beatings and incarceration. Despite his compassion and unselfish dedication to the
thousands of sick who seek his help, he is still ridiculed by his enemies. Amazingly, he treats many of his
persecutors - doctors and police - with their own incurable diseases. Clergymen, rabbis and nuns from all
over the world write testimonies to his miraculous cures.
The poor and the famous
are equally welcome. The famous
include actress Shirley McLaine who was told she could never dance again until
Joao cured her stricken legs caused by a tumor in her stomach. Thousands of written testimonies are
filed in the office along with piles of newspaper clippings and personal
letters of gratitude. It is
estimated he has cured more than 15 million people in his 38 years of
healing. Reports by scientists
from all over the world support claims of miraculous healings of every malady known
and unknown, including incurable cancers, lupus disease and 139 cases (at the
time of writing) of AIDS. Many
come with their white coats of skepticism, but all leave totally convinced that
he is a genuine paranormal phenomenon of medicine.
The sick do not pay for
treatment. If herbs are prescribed
they pay only a few dollars to cover the cost of production. They will be fed at lunchtime with a
simple wholesome soup and bread, for which there is no charge. The week before I arrived he treated
and fed over 15,000 people in three days! He and his volunteer staff worked
non-stop up to 14 hours each day.
It is said that he treats and operates on more people for major maladies
in a single week than the largest western hospital would treat in a month.
Like other renowned healers
before him - Edgar Cayce, Ze Arigo and Britain's Harry Edwards, his miraculous
cures provide hope for the terminally ill who have exhausted all avenues of
modem medicine. Joao is the living
proof of spirit existence that even the skeptics cannot refute.
A trip to this sanctuary
is a spiritually uplifting experience even for the hale and hearty.

In 1986, I was diagnosed
with a rare disease in the retina of the eye called serpiginous choroiditis.
There were no drugs to combat this disease and laser surgeries were the only
means of stopping its progression.
Following five laser surgeries over a 13-year period of time, I was
designated as legally blind and told that it would be beneficial to start
learning Braille. I was told that
there was nothing more that could be done.
In
November of 1998, my beloved partner Diana Rose read a book to me, written by
Robert Pellegrino-Estrich, entitled the Miracle Man. Upon completion of the reading, I indicated that I must go
to Brazil to receive my miracle from the healer known as John of God. At this point, I could still read large
print and I could drive around the immediate community as long as I knew where
I was going.
Believing
that an instantaneous miracle would restore my eyesight, I hired a translator
who spoke Portuguese and proceeded to the Casa de Dom Inacio in Abadiania
Brazil for a one and a half day stay.
I sat in current twice on the first day and received a spiritual
operation in the surgery room on the second morning. While I was sitting in the surgery room, I felt someone
blowing in my ear. I remember thinking
that they should be working on my eyes, not my ear. Since I did not understand the severity of my surgery and
since I didn’t feel anything, my translator and I proceeded to tour the
countryside and even spent many hours shopping for crystals in the city of
Crystalina. This action was
exactly opposite of what we were told to do following a surgery.
By
the end of the day, I was exhausted and began to realize that I had truly had a
major operation. It was too
late! I had ignored the warnings
and my eyesight began to get worse.
When I arrived back home, my ability to read had diminished to almost
zero without strong magnification and my ability to drive had ended. When asked if I would ever go back to
Abadiania, I answered “No, unless I receive a clear message from God!” Approximately three weeks after my
return, John of God came to me in a dream. When I asked him if I should return to the Casa de Dom
Inacio, he said “Yes, two more times.” Without the ability to read the TV
monitors in the airports, nor the ability to speak Portuguese, I returned on my
own in May of 1999 for three days and again in August for three weeks. Following the May trip, my eyesight
returned to where it was before going in January. Following the August trip, my eyesight began to improve
significantly.
I
began to notice that each time I returned from Brazil my eyesight would improve
significantly but start to degrade after a couple of months. In December of 1999 I visited the Casa
for three weeks and had my most profound experiences, insights and improvement
in eyesight. I returned home and
resigned from my job. My eyesight
has improved ever since and has never degraded to this day. I can now read again for short periods
of time and I drive wherever I want to go even in minimal lighting
conditions. I lead a normal life
again and work from my home office using my new computer to communicate with
people around the world who want to know more about the Casa de Dom Inacio and
John of God. For more information,
